Suspended Ceilings

Suspended ceilings are effectively a second, lower, ceiling in an office and typically they are installed by hanging a metal grid from the original ceiling level into which mineral fibre tiles are slotted to create a new ceiling.

The purpose of installing a suspended ceiling can be many fold and as well as the obvious enhancement of the aesthetics of an office environment a good suspended ceiling will also reduce noise pollution, maximise lighting, hide unattractive wires, pipes and mechanical installations whilst also allowing access for maintenance. Additionally, if installed correctly, most suspended ceilings will enhance the level of fire resistance to the ceiling void however tiles are also available that have the potential to hold fire at bay for up to an hour.

Your particular type of work environment can determine the style of ceiling grid and tile that you require, humid environments like kitchens, shower and wet rooms should use humidity resistant tiles, there are even specialist applications for hospitals where the tiles incorporate a special anti-microbial coating to combat infections and stop bacteria and mould from growing.

When considering the installation of a new suspended ceiling to your office or work environment you should always consult a professional specifier and installer to ensure that you install the correct product in the right environment.

At Cotefield we possess an extensive knowledge of the range of ceilings available to you to best suit your particular project and all of our installations are undertaken by qualified professionals to the highest standards possible on a consistent basis.
